DAY 1 - ARRIVE AUCKLAND
Welcome to this cosmopolitan city dotted with volcanic cones
and fringed by beaches and forest. On arrival you will be
met and transferred to your hotel. (Self-drivers collect your
rental car from Auckland Airport depot)
DAY 2 - AUCKLAND WAITOMO CAVES ROTORUA (370
KMS) (D)
Journey through lush countryside and incredible underground
cave networks to float below a magical, luminescent ceiling
at the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves. Continue through farmland,
lakeland and forest until the distinctive smell of sulphur
and constant steam drifts let you know you are in tempestuous,
geothermal Rotorua. Enjoy a night of traditional culture and
entertainment when you join in a time of sharing and feasting
to a selection of foods cooked the traditional Maori way on
hot stones in an authentic earthen oven.
DAY 3 - ROTORUA (L)
Visit Te Puia and its thermal valley of roaring geysers, steaming
rivers and boiling mud pools and experience the wonders of
Maori arts and crafts. Take in the native bush, wildlife and
trout at Rainbow Springs Nature Park and Kiwi Encounter before
the informative Agrodome Sheep Show. Skyline Skyrides Gondola
elevates you to a stunning environment for a buffet lunch
with panoramic views of the city and lake. If you are brave
enough, you may take a ride on the Luge cart though
the redwood trees.
DAY 4 - ROTORUA TAUPO NAPIER (225 KMS)
Depart on a scenic drive through rugged mountain ranges and
exotic pine forests before you reach the stretches of fertile
vineyards the Hawkes Bay is so well known for. Rest of the
day is free to slow down and enjoy the heritage of this unique
Art Deco City and its pretty coastal setting.
DAY 5 - NAPIER WELLINGTON (323 KMS)
Morning free for optional sightseeing. You may like to take
an early morning hot air balloon ride, a guided Art Deco Walk,
or tour some of the regions many fine wineries. Your afternoon
departure takes you through the food and wine growing Wairarapa
region, fringed by mountains and rugged coast, to New Zealands
capital city.
DAY 6 - WELLINGTON
A full day free to enjoy this compact boutique city packed
full of atmosphere with its vibrant range of galleries, museums
and restaurants.
DAY 7 - DEPART WELLINGTON
Transfer to airport. (Self-drivers return car to airport depot)
