DAY 1 - ARRIVE CHRISTCHURCH
On arrival at Christchurch Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. (Self-drive passengers collect your rental car for your exclusive use until the end of the tour package).

DAY 2 - CHRISTCHURCH – KAIKOURA (183 KMS)
This morning you will be travelling to Kaikoura on board the Coastal Pacific train. The rest of the day is free for an optional Whale Watching cruise. (Self- drive passengers drive to Kaikoura).

DAY 3 - KAIKOURA – BLENHEIM – NELSON (245 KMS)
Rejoin the Tranz Coastal train to Blenheim and continue by coach to Nelson. (Self drive passengers drive to Nelson).

DAY 4 - NELSON – GREYMOUTH (290 KMS)
Today we cross the Hope Saddle to Kawatiri Junction before entering the Buller Gorge and following the Buller River to Westport. We view the amazing Pancake Rock formation at Punakaiki and then on to Greymouth, nestled on the banks of the Grey River.

DAY 5 - GREYMOUTH – CHRISTCHURCH (250 KMS)
A spectacular journey today by rail on one of the world’s best scenic train journeys. The Tranz Alpine winds across spectacular gorges and river valleys, through lush beech forest and over the massive Southern Alps in Arthur’s Pass National Park to Christchurch. (Self-drive passengers can visit Shantytown, a reconstructed gold mining village, where you can actually pan for gold before driving to Christchurch).

DAY 6 - DEPART CHRISTCHURCH
Early this morning a tour on the “Hot Air Balloon” is suggested if time permits. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight. (Self-drive passengers return your car directly at the airport)
