DAY 1 - ARRIVE AUCKLAND
On arrival at Auckland Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. (Self-drive passengers collect your rental car for your exclusive use until the end of the tour package).

 

DAY 2 - AUCKLAND – WAITOMO CAVES – ROTORUA (370 KMS) (D)
Enroute to Rotorua the highlight is a visit to the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves. This experience is climaxed by drifting silently in a boat on the underground river under the milky way of millions of glow worms on the cavern roof above you. This evening, enjoy a night of truly authentic, traditional culture and entertainment. Join in a time of sharing and feasting to a selection of foods cooked the traditional Maori way on hot stones in an authentic earthen oven.

DAY 3 - ROTORUA (L)
Today’s tour includes Te Puia and its Thermal Valley of roaring geysers, steaming rivers and boiling mud pools. Following this, you will travel to Rainbow Springs to view trout and other wildlife and to the famous Agrodome Sheep Show. A ride on the Gondola up to Mt Ngongataha for a buffet lunch and for the more courageous ones, a ride on the “Luge” is included.

 

DAY 4 - ROTORUA – WELLINGTON (465 KMS)
Departing Rotorua head south via Lake Taupo and the Tongariro National Park to Levin and onto Wellington, New Zealand’s capital.

DAY 5 - WELLINGTON – PICTON – NELSON (110 KMS)
This morning, board the Interislander Ferry across the Cook Strait to Picton and, from here take the scenic Queen Charlotte Drive along the Sound to Nelson.

 

DAY 6 - NELSON – GREYMOUTH – WEST COAST GLACIERS (520 KMS)
Today we cross the Hope Saddle to Kawatiri Junction before entering the Buller Gorge and following the Buller River to Westport. View the amazing Pancake Rock formations at Punakaiki and then on to Greymouth, nestled on the banks of the Grey River. Continue southwards by coach along the coast to reach Westland National Park and the glacier region.

 

DAY 7 - WEST COAST GLACIERS (B)
A full day at leisure to enjoy the magnificent glaciers. Climb on to the slow moving river of ice or take a scenic flight (optional) for a bird’s eye view of this spectacular terrain.

 

DAY 8 - WEST COAST GLACIERS – QUEENSTOWN (420 KMS) (B)
Depart this morning through the South Westland Heritage Park and across the rugged Haast Pass and Lake Wanaka. This afternoon’s travel is through the Kawarau Gorge to reach Queenstown.

DAY 9 - QUEENSTOWN
Today you will cruise on the vintage ‘Old Lady’, the TSS Earnslaw, to Walter Peak High Country Farm for an excursion of the Colonel’s Homestead. (The ‘TSS Earnslaw’ is on annual service in June and July and will be replaced with an alternative activity).

 

DAY 10 - QUEENSTOWN – MT COOK – CHRISTCHURCH (600 Kms)
This morning, travel over the Lindis Pass to reach Mt Cook around lunch time, a rare opportunity to take an optional scenic flight to view Mt Cook’s snow fields and glaciers. Continue through to Lake Tekapo and across the Canterbury Plains to Christchurch.

 

DAY 11 - DEPART CHRISTCHURCH
Early this morning a tour on the “Hot Air Balloon” is suggested it time permits. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight. (Self-drive passengers return your car directly at the airport).
